New Nasal Treatment Shows Promise for Treating Parkinson’s Disease

LeahJSZhittya Genesis Medicine has announced promising results from a new fMRI study, showing a 21.2% increase in brain blood flow in a Parkinson’s patient after six months of intranasal FGF-1 therapy. This treatment could go beyond symptom management, potentially slowing, stopping, or even reversing Parkinson’s disease by restoring blood flow to dopamine-producing areas of the brain.
Conducted with Washington University School of Medicine, the study’s fMRI scans revealed significant improvements in blood flow, correlating with a 50% increase in motor skills. Dr. Jack Jacobs, President of Zhittya Genesis Medicine, described the results as "revolutionary," marking a shift from symptom management to addressing the root cause of neurodegeneration.
The study, involving over 200 participants, has shown consistent benefits, with patients experiencing an average 54% improvement in motor skills within six months. These findings challenge the current dopamine-replacement approach and suggest that improving brain circulation could prevent neuron loss and even promote regeneration.
Zhittya Genesis Medicine continues to track long-term outcomes, with additional patient data expected soon. Dr. Jacobs believes this research could lead to a breakthrough treatment for Parkinson’s and other neurodegenerative diseases.
