This study explored whether singing can help people with Parkinson's disease (PD) improve their voice, breathing strength, and overall quality of life. The study included 27 participants with PD who took part in an 8-week singing program. They were divided into two groups: one met twice a week and the other once a week. The sessions included vocal exercises and group singing, led by certified music therapists. Measurements of voice, breathing, and quality of life were taken before and after the program. Both groups showed significant improvements in breathing strength and the length of time they could make a sound. Additionally, quality of life related to voice and overall health significantly improved. Singing may be a helpful and enjoyable way to improve and maintain voice and breathing functions in people with Parkinson's disease.
