Let’s Get Loud: The Movers & Shakers Want Parliament to Listen
June 2, 2025
What do you get when you mix six witty, determined friends with Parkinson’s, a podcast mic, and a big idea? You get the Movers & Shakers, a grassroots powerhouse on a mission to fix what’s broken in Parkinson’s care — and they’ve just launched a nationwide petition to do it.
The Parky Charter is their rallying cry, and it’s not asking for the moon. Just five sensible, overdue changes that could massively improve the lives of people with Parkinson’s:
Faster Diagnosis – No more waiting and wondering for years.
More Specialist Nurses – Because juggling appointments with generalists doesn’t cut it.
Better Support at Work – Parkinson’s shouldn’t mean packing it in early.
Fairer Benefits System – People with a degenerative condition shouldn’t have to fight to prove they’re not ‘getting better’.
Quicker Access to New Treatments – Let’s catch up with science already.
The aim? 100,000 signatures. Once we hit that magic number, Parliament is obliged to consider it for debate. That means politicians will have to face the realities of Parkinson’s — and the solutions — head-on.
But here’s the thing: this won’t happen without us. The Movers & Shakers have sparked the fire, but now they need the rest of us — people with Parkinson’s, family, friends, carers, clinicians, and anyone who believes in better — to add our names and share the word.
And if you haven’t already listened to their podcast, give it a go. It’s moving, hilarious, and painfully honest — a brilliant reminder that while Parkinson’s may quieten the voice, it doesn’t silence the spirit.
So, whether you’re in the mood to shake things up or just quietly make a difference, sign the petition. It takes 30 seconds and could change thousands of lives.
🖊️ Let’s make some noise. Sign it. Share it. Let’s get Parkinson’s on Parliament’s agenda.
