Aromatherapy and Parkinson’s
July 7, 2024
Aromatherapy involves using essential oils from plants to address symptoms like anxiety, stress, insomnia, and depression. These oils are diluted and can be applied in various ways, such as being massaged into the skin, inhaled, or added to creams and baths. It's believed that the chemical properties of these oils can positively impact both physical and mental health.
Many people turn to aromatherapy to help them relax. While there is some research suggesting that aromatherapy can have a mild, temporary calming effect on anxiety, the evidence isn't strong enough to definitively prove that it can effectively treat any specific condition, including Parkinson’s disease.
If you’re interested, it’s a good idea to talk to your GP, specialist, or Parkinson’s nurse about its availability in your area.
