Safety study of BT-267 Parkinson’s therapy begins dosing volunteers
December 3, 2024
LeahJSBrenig Therapeutics has begun dosing healthy volunteers in the first clinical trial of BT-267, a potential disease-modifying therapy for Parkinson's disease, including idiopathic cases and those linked to LRRK2 gene mutations.
Designed using artificial intelligence, BT-267 is a small molecule inhibitor of the LRRK2 enzyme, aiming to selectively target the enzyme while minimizing side effects. Preclinical studies demonstrated its safety, with promising brain penetration and minimal impact on other organs. The therapy, supported by $65 million in funding, may offer hope for addressing Parkinson’s by slowing disease progression.
