
Using sound and art to bring together younger people living with Parkinson’s

Researchers at University College London are exploring the mental health benefits of art and music for younger people with Parkinson's. They want to find out if taking part in a creative group project can improve feelings of loneliness.
Who do the researchers need?
10 people with Parkinson’s aged 18 to 50 years old, who:
feel lonely, anxious or low in mood
are willing to share their experience of living with Parkinson’s
can attend all meetings for the study
You don’t need to have any previous drawing or musical experience to participate
What is involved?
Completing a 20 minute survey about your mood and lifestyle before and after taking part
Attending meetings at University College London, on all the following dates. The meetings will last for 2 hours:
Tuesday 6 May, 10am to 12pm
Tuesday 3 June, 10am to 12pm
Tuesday 17 June, 10am to 12pm
At these meetings you will work together in a group to explore your experiences of living with Parkinson’s through art
With the support of professional musicians you will develop a piece of music to represent the group’s experiences
You will also be asked to attend a live public performance of the music you helped to create. The performance will be hosted on an evening in July in London.
Travel expenses will be reimbursed
