Serina Therapeutics has secured $10 million in funding to advance its lead product, SER-252, a novel therapy for advanced Parkinson’s disease, toward a Phase 1 clinical trial by mid-2025. Developed using Serina’s proprietary POZ platform, SER-252 delivers apomorphine, a dopamine-mimicking drug, through a controlled-release synthetic polymer for stable blood levels and reduced side effects. The therapy is designed for weekly subcutaneous injections via the EnFuse wearable drug delivery system, enhancing patient comfort and eliminating skin reactions. Existing Parkinson’s treatments often lose effectiveness over time, leading to fluctuating symptom control and off episodes. SER-252 aims to address these challenges by providing consistent, long-acting symptom relief. The funding, secured through an equity agreement with JuvVentures, is being distributed in two installments, with the first $5 million received in November and the remainder expected by January.
